Africa Rose & Shone

BONNIE-MES-2332

The biggest and most anticipated concert took place in Soweto, Johannesburg on Freedom Day. The Africa Rising Johannesburg concert came to life and it is a massive achievement for Soulistic Music. After weeks of planning, trying to put together this specatucular event, thousands of music lovers and Soulistic Music supporters came out to celebrate their Freedom in grand style. The Walter Sisulu Square was incredibly packed and it made more sense to hold the concert there as it is where our Freedom Charter was signed.

We kicked off the show at 2pm with an incredible line up that kept everybody on their toes. DJ China kicked off the show on a high with his energy infused house set, followed by DJ Kabila at 3pm, house duo Sai & Ribatone took to the stage at 4 and their infectious energy kept the crowd going on even more. One of South Africa’s finest djs, Shimza rocked his set at 5pm  followed by the insanely talented duo Black Motion whose dance moves are as impresive as their music. Culoe De Song got on stage and did his thing just after 7 and shook the dance floor which was as big as a stadium filled with party goers.
The main act of the evening, DJ Black Coffee with his 24 piece orchestra took to the stage right at 8 kicking it off with a tribute to the late Victor Ntoni with the man himself Black Coffee singing Wathula Nje so much to the cheerful applause of his adoring fans. Coffee dressed in a slick navy double breasted jacket and beige pants roped in incredible artists who took turns in sharing the stage with great delight , from Alexander James, Toshi, Thiwe, Bucie, Nathan Adams, Tumelo,Zano, Mondli Ngcobo, Nomsa Mazwai, Marisa Guzman and Shana. They all gave heart-felt performances and we couldn’t be more proud. Shana paid tribute to the the late great Lebo Mathosa when they performed their hit Benga featuring Bucie.

The party continued right after the awesome orchestra bowed off stage with DJ Stra3gy dishing out the hottest house tunes. The party went on until 11. Soulistic Music would like to extend a massive thank you to all the awesome fans that without hesitation graced us with their presence and made this concert the success that it was. A big thank you to our sponsors Mzansi Magic and Daily Sun and Don’t Look Down Convergence Agency who believed in this project.  We will certainly see you on the next big one.
